Malena Ally earned her Masters in Social Work from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education with a major in Art and a minor in Psychology from Western Washington University. Malena is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of California (LCSW72275) and is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Illinois. Malena also holds a Pupil Personnel Credential in School Social Work and worked as a school social worker in Illinois with preschool through eighth grade students for 7 years. She is currently providing therapy services and socialization training in California to children and young adults.
Malena specializes in the areas of adolescent issues, Anxiety, Depression, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, self-injurious behavior, suicidal thoughts, and interventions as they relate to these disorders and behaviors. Malena is experienced in offering consultation and intervention strategies in the school setting for students with emotional disabilities and challenging behaviors. She is experienced in facilitating groups in the following areas: social skills, anger management/coping, executive functioning skills, decision-making skills, and is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Intervention for Trauma in Schools (CBITS).
Other areas of interest and expertise include lesson plan/curriculum development, trauma work, school crisis response, LGBTQ issues, bullying prevention, teen dating violence prevention, college and career readiness, and building cultural competency. She is an active member of the National Association of Social Workers.
