Wendy P. Jones, CAGS
Wendy Jones is a Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP #2818) and Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP). She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island, and her Master of Arts degree and Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in School Psychology from Tufts University. She has worked as a school psychologist in New Hampshire and California, in urban, suburban and rural communities, and with students from preschool through college. Additionally, she has worked in a residential treatment facility, traditional school settings, and specialized programs for students with severe emotional challenges.
Wendy specializes in the areas of Anxiety, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Executive Functioning, Learning Disabilities and related interventions. Strategies of focus include, but are not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Humanistic Therapeutic Approach, Organization and Work Completion Strategies, Coping Skills, Mindfulness, Behavioral Supports and Consultation with staff, parents and related professionals.
Other areas of interest include student understanding of his or her disability and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), special education, adolescence, student empowerment, LGBTQ issues, communication, self-advocacy, independence, college and career readiness, as well as support for siblings of students with disabilities. Wendy also enjoys writing, including training materials for staff and parents, and intervention materials for students. She has extensive experience creating and presenting workshops to school staff and school psychologist/school mental health staff interns around a wide variety of topics. She supervised interns for over 17 years. At DI, Wendy is spearheading the launch of new, personalized online workshops and resources for parents.
Wendy has been recognized by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and the William S. Hart Union High School District for her innovative work as a school psychologist and dedication to students and their families. Wendy is an active member of the California Association of School Psychologists and the National Association of School Psychologists.
